ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Fitness Professional, Tina J., became motivated to explore how exercise can impact physical health at a young age upon discovering her parents and siblings had high blood pressure and diabetes and witnessing her mother have a stroke. In high school and college she became dedicated to track and field and thereafter pursued external opportunities in the Brazilian Art of Capoeria while continuing to engage in weight training. Upon graduating from Norfolk State University, she began to research how she could use what God gave her to invest in society. In 2013, Tina became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and has provided training in gyms and homes and later obtained the ACE Nutrition Specialist and several AAAI Certifications. Breaking Barriers Fitness was established as a way to customize and implement her unique style of coaching, program development, and guidance to clientele.
Tina has also participated in 5ks, Spartan Sprint Race, and in 2019 trained and competed as a figure competitor in Organization of Competitive Bodies Body Building Competitions and earned her Pro Card Status. Fitness organization affiliations include IDEA Fitness and ACE Fitness.
Breaking Barriers Fitness vision is to create an environment for individuals who have chosen to embrace the sport of life to perform at their optimal capacity to achieve S.M.A.R.T. fitness and health goals. BBF is prepared to not only design exercise programs to fit an individual’s particular goals, but also equipped to help those with a desire to live healthier lifestyles by becoming mentally and physically fit. BBF is committed to transform bodies through techniques such as calisthenics, resistance training, and high intensity training.
Tina's passion is to encourage and motivate you along your fitness journey, design unique programs to compliment your fitness lifestyle journey cycles, and prepare you to be accountable and pay it forward as you build momentum along your fitness journey one barrier at a time. Tina is committed to providing assistance for fat loss, muscular strength and endurance, cardio endurance and speed, and to enhance positive attitudes towards physical exercise and nutritional habits and to improve sports performance of different ages, body types and levels.
